Mummy and PT

Hello and welcome to my page. I'm a mum, wife and self employed personal trainer and I've run my own PT business for three years. In May 2016 we had our first baby, Sonny and now we have a baby girl on the way, due July 2018.

I've set up this blog to share some of my fitness journey and experiences as a mum - and of course how I do my best to combine the two.

I believe in a simple approach to training and nutrition and prefer real food over shakes or supplements. I do cardio and I lift weights along with some yoga whenever I can.

Obviously being a mum meant I faced new challenges when it came to training - the biggest one being how to fit it in. For me it works best to get up around 5 or 6 am to workout before Sonny wakes up. He doesn't go to a nursery or crèche and I manage to work around my husbands shifts and our parents help with babysitting, so my workouts have to be done when I can squeeze them in but I believe that if you're determined, you can make anything work. Hopefully I can help inspire others to lead a healthy active life around whatever family and work commitments you have. Often it's not about having the time, we're all busy, it's about making it.

With our second baby now on the way I have no idea how it will work or how I'll fit it in but I know if I'm committed, I will. I get so much inspiration from other fit mums who are in incredible shape.

Clean eating

I enjoy following a clean as possible diet  with as little processed food as possible, based largely on fresh wholesome unrefined ingredients. This for me helps curb binges which is something I've struggled with in the past.
I'm not a fan of training supplements and will only occasionally use protein powder. I  also feed my son mostly the same as me so he eats a very varied wholesome diet, also much easier to make one thing at meal times!
You can find some of my favourite recipes on the blog.
